What Materials Can be Processed by CNC Single Axis EDM Machine?
Graphite

1. Inappropriate parameter adjustment
Incorrect use of electrical parameters is also a reason for unstable discharge. The electrical standard mainly consists of three major electrical parameters: current, pulse width, and pulse gap. If we use too much current, too much pulse width, and too little pulse gap during the machining process, it is the main reason for the unstable discharge phenomenon caused by unreasonable electrical parameter adjustment. The three should be specifically set and selected based on the stability during processing and the requirements of processing technology indicators. If unstable discharge is encountered during processing, the first consideration should be to increase the pulse gap, which can ensure deionization during processing, improve chip removal conditions, and have little impact on process indicators. Another consideration is to reduce the pulse width. Excessive pulse width will cause too many discharge times in a short period of time during processing, making it difficult to deionization and prone to arc burning.


2. Other parameter selection needs to be noted
For example, parameters such as knife lifting speed, discharge time, and knife lifting height. In the case of unstable discharge, the tool lifting speed should be accelerated, the discharge time should be reduced, and the tool lifting height should be increased. When dealing with electrical parameters, special attention should be paid to the difference in discharge stability between rough machining and precision machining. In rough machining, due to the large discharge, large spark gap, and good chip removal effect, stable machining can often be achieved, while in precision machining, the opposite is true, which is prone to unstable discharge. Therefore, special monitoring should be carried out for precision machining of EDM machines. The polarity of the machining should be correct. If the negative polarity (electrode is negative) is mistakenly used in normal machining, unstable discharge may occur, making it impossible to continue machining. The machining polarity should be changed.

Low processing efficiency of the EDM machine
